SphereX Mission to Probe Cosmos History of Our Origin; Will Be Launched April in 2025

March 31, 2022 by Samuel Roan

On April 25, 2025, the SphereX mission will launch from Earth to explore the cosmic history of our origin. The $100 million spacecraft will travel to the outskirts of our solar system where it will explore far-off planets and their moons for evidence of extraterrestrial life. The sphereX mission will also search for and characterize nearby planetary bodies, including exoplanets and comets. The mission will be able to detect water in the atmosphere of comets and possibly identify the fingerprints of living organisms on Earth-crossing asteroids.

SpaceX is ready to launch the Spectro-Photometer For the History of the Universe Epoch of Reionization and Ices Explorer SPHEREx mission in April 2025. This mission’s ideology was derived from James Webb Telescope. This mission will examine the facts surrounding the first seconds of the big bank’s creation. Continue reading to learn everything you need to know about SpaceX’s preparations for the mission.

What We Know About Our Cosmic History

The universe is vast and ancient. Scientists have uncovered a wealth of information about our cosmic history in recent years. Here’s what we know so far: The universe is expanding and cooling. It was once filled with hot, dense gas and plasma, but over time, the force of gravity pulled this material together to form stars and galaxies. The universe is estimated to have been around for around 13.8 billion years, though it may have existed for even longer than that. There are approximately 100 billion galaxies in the observable universe, and each one contains up to 100 million stars. Our own Milky Way galaxy contains between 100-400 billion stars! The first signs of life appeared on Earth about 3.8 billion years ago, courtesy of proteins that built simple cells from organic molecules such as carbon dioxide and water vapor.

The Technologies That Will Probe Our Origins

The search for our origins has been ongoing for centuries, and there are many technologies that are currently being used to probe back in time. Some of the most popular methods include archaeology, paleontology, and astronomy. These techniques allow us to explore past cultures and learn more about the origins of life on Earth. In addition to these traditional methods, there are also newer technologies that are being developed to help probe deeper into our past. These include gene sequencing and artificial intelligence. As we gain a better understanding of our history, we can continue to build a better future.

Information about the mission

SpaceX claims that the SphereX mission will launch in 2025. It will explore a range of space development issues. It will survey the entire sky to learn how galaxies were formed and their evolution. The mission will not only use computer-generated instructions but will also explore the actual usage of hardware. SpaceX has confirmed that the probe will study the fundamental of the sky within six months. This probe will also create a map of all the cosmos, something that has never been done before.

Learn more about SPHEREx

SphereX is a space telescope that’s truly exceptional. It’s essential for observing large areas of the sky and examining many objects at once. SphereX can cover 99 percent of the surrounding area in six months, according to Nasa. This is a significant improvement on the Hubble telescope, which managed only 0.1 percent of the sky in its 30 years of operation. SphereX will help researchers calculate the amount of life-habitual elements in the enormous clouds that are responsible for the evolution of new stars and their planetary system.

Conclusion: What the SphereX Mission could mean for our understanding of cosmic history

What if the universe is just one big cycle of life and death? What if our planet and all its inhabitants are just a temporary stop on an ongoing cosmic journey? These are some of the questions that Jason Wright, an astronomer at Pennsylvania State University, hopes to answer with his new research project: SphereX.

SphereX is a space telescope that will use a series of highly sensitive cameras to study the farthest reaches of the universe. Wright and his team believe that their findings could help us to better understand our place in the cosmos and the cycles of life and death that we see play out on Earth time and time again.

NASA Will Bolster ISS’s Power Upgrade Program; Two Astronomers To Perform A Spacewalk On Wednesday

March 15, 2022 by Samuel Roan

NASA has announced that two astronauts from International Space Station (ISS), will perform a spacewalk outside of the station in a new development. This spacewalk will be used to prepare hardware for new solar panels that will be installed as part of the ongoing power system upgrade at the Hubble Telescope. This article will provide all the details about the spacewalk. NASA will also live stream the event online.

International Space Station (ISS) running, NASA will be bolstering its power upgrade program with the help of two astronomers. They will be performing a spacewalk on Wednesday in order to replace an external battery charger. This upgrade is necessary due to the age of the ISS and the growing demand for power from the various modules.

Two NASA astronauts will conduct the spacewalk from the ISS on Tuesday. Kayla Barron, Raja Chari, and others will participate in the U.S. EVA number 79 spacewalk. They will continue to work on improving the station’s power systems. NASA has informed that the spacewalk will take place over six hours.

What does this mean for the station?

NASA has announced that it will be bolstering the International Space Station’s power upgrade program with the addition of two new astronauts. These astronauts, Drew Feustel and Ricky Arnold will perform a spacewalk on Wednesday in order to help install additional batteries and cables. The station currently relies on solar power for energy, but these upgrades will help to ensure that the station can continue to operate safely and effectively into the future. This is good news for the station, as it means that its power supply will be improved and its functionality increased.

What can you expect from the spacewalk? How do you live to stream it?

They will be installing brackets, struts, and other components to allow for future solar arrays to be added outside the space station. NASA TV will live to stream Tuesday’s spacewalk. NASA TV will stream the entire spacewalk live from your home. You can also watch the embedded video by going to the NASA website. NASA has set the spacewalk for March 15th at 4:00 p.m. IST (3:30 a.m. PT). The spacewalk will begin at 8:05 AM. ET (8:35 p.m IST)

This power upgrade is sorely needed; the ISS has been in operation since 1998, and its power systems are starting to show their age. The new batteries and wiring will help to improve the station’s energy efficiency, as well as its overall performance. In addition, this upgrade will help prepare the ISS for future missions, including crewed flights to Mars.

When will the spacewalk take place?

The two astronauts, Peggy Whitson and Jack Fischer will perform the spacewalk outside the ISS on Wednesday. This is a major milestone in NASA’s efforts to upgrade the power system on the ISS. The astronauts will replace an obsolete power control unit with a new one, and they will also install a new adapter cable. This spacewalk is expected to last for about six hours.

NASA’s Curiosity Rover Photographs Martian Surface Flower-like Rock…

March 8, 2022 by Samuel Roan

NASA’s Curiosity Rover captured a close-up photo of a small, flower-like mineral deposit that is located on Mars. The image of the mineral flower was taken by the Curiosity rover. It bears some resemblances to living organisms. It isn’t alive, however. Curiosity Rover captured this image near the AeolisMons (Mount Sharp), a martian mountain that forms the central peak of the Gale crater. The above was taken on February 25, 2022. You can find the official release here.

NASA’s Curiosity rover has photographed a Martian surface rock that appears to be flower-like. The image was taken on January 5, 2019, and was shared by the rover’s Twitter account. The rock is about 2 inches wide and is located in the “Rocknest” area of Gale Crater. This is not the first time that a flower-like rock has been spotted on Mars; in 2012, the Opportunity rover photographed a rock nicknamed ” jellyfish.

In a recently released photograph by NASA’s Curiosity Rover, a small, flower-like rock can be seen on the Martian surface. The rock is only about 6 inches wide and is located in the Marias Pass region of M. Initial speculation is that the rock may have been formed by an ancient riverbed, as the Marias Pass region is known to have been very watery in the past.

Curiosity Rover:

Curiosity launched on Nov. 26, 2011, and landed in Gale Crater, on Aug. 6, 2012. It continues to explore the Martian surface and provide valuable information to researchers. Curiosity has spent more than 2,800 Sols (Martian days) on Mars, taken over 700,000 raw photos, and covered 14 miles of the planet’s surface. Curiosity has a radioisotope energy system. This system generates electricity from the radioactive decay heat of plutonium.

NASA states that this power source has outlived its operational life expectancy of at least one Martian-year or 687 Earth days. Curiosity’s eight-year tenure on Mars is proof of its design.

NASA’s Curiosity rover has photographed a strange, flower-like rock on the Martian surface. The rover’s Mastcam took the photograph of the rock on January 24, 2019. The rock is about 2 feet wide and has delicate petals that curve inward. Scientists are still trying to figure out what the rock is and how it formed. Scientists believe that the rock may have been formed by an ancient river or stream.

NASA’s Curiosity rover has photographed a Martian surface rock that has been interpreted as looking like a flower. This latest discovery is just one more exciting example of the many wonders that continue to be uncovered by the rover as it roams across the Martian surface. The images of the flower-like rock were taken on March 18, 2015, and were subsequently published online by NASA on April 6, 2015.

Scientists announce a breakthrough in transuranium-actinide chemical bonding

February 17, 2022 by Samuel Roan

Researchers from The University of Manchester were able to create a transuranium compound where the central metal, here called neptunium forms multiple bonds to one element. This breakthrough is crucial for the clean-up of nuclear waste.

Report in the journal Nature Chemistry that a team of researchers from The University Manchester and the European Commission Joint Research Centre Karlsruhe successfully created and characterized the long-awaited transuranium chemical bonds scenario in an isolable substance.

With decades of extensive research, the study of multiple metal-element bond interactions is a huge area of chemistry research. It has been a long-standing field of chemistry research that has sought to understand chemical bonds, reactivity, and separations applications. There is a lot of interest in understanding covalency in chemical bonding in extraction studies. This could help in the separation and cleanup of nuclear waste.

However, while multiple metal-element bond investigations are well documented across the Periodic Table up to uranium (the heaviest element to naturally occur in significant amounts), investigations involving transuranium components, which are elements that come to the following uranium on the Periodic Table, such as neptunium have been limited due to the necessity to perform work on radioactive elements in specialist facilities.

Due to the limited experimental work in transuranium-element multiple bonds, there is little knowledge transfer from these fundamental studies into potential separations applications.

Examples of transuranium-element multiple bonds chemistry have been found. These include two or more elements multiple bonds to a transuranium Ion to allow for sufficient stabilization to allow isolation of the compounds. These linkages cannot be examined in isolation due to the presence of multiple bonded elements. This complicates their analysis. It has not been possible to access transuranium compounds with only one multiple bond to an element stable enough to isolate. This makes it difficult to experimentally verify or disprove theoretical predictions.

The researchers were able to prepare a complex that contained a neptunium-oxygen ion and multiple bonds to one oxygen atom using specialist handling equipment. It was important to carefully design the supporting, cage-like organic binding framework that included four stabilizing nitrogen donors as well as a large silicon-based flanking group to help protect the neptunium oxygen bond and allow for its isolation.

The researchers extended their prior work on uranium to neptunium and were able to make previously impossible comparisons. They were surprised to discover that the neptuniumoxygen complex has greater covalent chemical bonding than an isostructural-uraniumoxygen complex. This is the opposite of predictions and highlights the difficulty in making predictions in this area.

The research was coordinated by Professor Steve Liddle (Co-Director of The University of Manchester’s Centre for Radiochemistry). He stated that the work was possible because of the collaboration between international specialists and the talents of the researchers involved in the study.

This was difficult work experimentally. It would not have been possible without three leading institutions combining their strengths to embrace our interdisciplinarity research approach. But it has been crucial because this work already highlights how predictions can easily be broken down in this complex area. This shows how important it is to experiment and test theories in order to establish benchmarks for the future.

Through the study of metal-element multiple bonds, thorium and molecular uranium chemistry have made great strides in recent years. However, transuranium science is still far behind because of the difficulties of working with these elements experimentally. This research shows that transuranium analogs can now be studied more widely, which opens up new opportunities for actinide science.

Twitch Introduces a New Option to Protect Chat Against Abuse

December 20, 2021 by Samuel Roan

Twitch has introduced a Suspicious Account Detection feature to assist and protect streamers as well as their conversations from abuse. The technology is being developed in response to hate crimes and abuse on the platform, particularly among streamers from disadvantaged populations. It tries to capture users avoiding channel-level bans by identifying potentially suspect conduct in chats, which are driven by machine learning. When users ban somebody from their channel, they should be permanently barred from your community. Sadly, bad actors frequently establish new accounts, return to the chat, and resume their distasteful activities. Suspicious User Detection, backed by machine learning, is built to assist users in identifying such gamers based on a variety of account indications. There are 2 tiers of suspicious behavior flags. Anything message in chat for “probable” ban avoiders will be accessible only by broadcasters and their moderators.

A notification will be displayed, but, broadcasters and moderators will be alerted of “potential” ban evaders. Messages can then be deleted and users blacklisted. This utility will be enabled by default, across all streams. Streamers will be able to turn it off or change the settings to be more careful, such as prohibiting any communications identified by the program. One thing to keep in mind though, particularly as the launch date approaches, is that hardly any machine learning system will ever be completely correct, which is why prohibitions on suspicious activity aren’t automated. When it comes to their community, users are the experts, and users should make the final decision on who may/may not join. The technology will learn from your behaviors, and the accuracy of its forecasts should increase with time.

This tool exemplifies our general approach to safeguarding technology: create strong tools that function in tandem to provide you with greater control over your community. Our job is never done, and we’re always looking for new ways to combat hatred, abuse, and ban avoidance on Twitch. The new technology has received strong feedback on Twitter, as consumers claim it represents a huge step forward for the streaming platform in keeping its users safe.

Elon Musk Tells NASA To Avenge Disappearance Of Dinosaurs As Space Agency Launches Planetary Defense Mission

December 14, 2021 by Samuel Roan

While NASA launched a mission that will deliberately crash into an asteroid, space enthusiast Elon Musk has something else in his mind. The SpaceX CEO sees NASA’s DART mission as an opportunity to avenge the extinction of dinosaurs from the Earth. Musk in a tweet to NASA said that the space agency will avenge an event that occurred million years. It is believed that an asteroid had hit the Earth causing the elimination of dinosaurs from the planet. Musk referred to this event to say that NASA’s spacecraft will avenge the wipeout of the creature. Past studies said that dinosaurs lived on the planet more than 65 million years ago. But dinosaurs became extinct because of the impact of asteroids hitting the Earth.

The DART is a planetary defense mission. The DART spacecraft will slam into an asteroid. It will demonstrate the asteroid-deflecting technology. The test is important as the technique could be used in the future to cut the risk of space rocks hitting the Earth. The impact generated by the spacecraft will change the motion and direction of the asteroid. According to NASA, the DART is the first such mission. It will showcase the kinetic impactor technique in space. The spacecraft will hit Didymos and its moonlet Dimorphos even as NASA said that the system poses no threat to Earth. As per the date set by NASA, the spacecraft will slam into Didymos and Dimorphos in September next year. The spacecraft is carrying an autonomous targeting system.

The asteroid that led to the disappearance of dinosaurs had originated from the outer half of the main asteroid belt in the solar system. The impact was such that it caused a massive global extinction event on the Earth. The object was approximately 9.6 km wide. When the space rock made sudden contact with Earth, it wiped out dinosaurs and more than 75 percent of animal species on the planet. NASA said that the main purpose of the DART mission is to make Earth ready to counter any threat that emerges from bodies from space.

Delayed Preorders Due to Chip Shortages Force SpaceX to Apologizes

December 13, 2021 by Samuel Roan

SpaceX has apologized to Starlink customers for delaying certain preorders, citing silicon shortages as a reason for the delay in the manufacture of its internet kit. Customers who placed a USD 100 deposit in the first part of this year were promised by Starlink, a division of SpaceX, that the test version of the satellite internet service will be available in their location in mid-to-late 2021. This week, presale customers took to social media to protest since they will not receive Starlink connections until next year, despite having waited months for the service. “Silicon constraints over the previous 6 months have reduced our planned manufacturing pace and hampered our ability to deliver numerous Starlink orders this year,” Starlink wrote in an email shared on Twitter and emailed to Insider by a client who booked the service prior to May.

SpaceX acknowledged the delay and stated that their technology, supply chains, as well as production teams, are working hard to enhance and simplify their product and facility in order to raise their production rates. According to a communication from Starlink, presale buyers may verify their projected arrival timeframes on their Starlink account. Starlink previously stated that a global chip scarcity was causing a delay in the construction of user terminals, which are the dishes that link to the 1,639 satellites in orbit. Jesse Nowlin, a client who bought Starlink in February for his San Diego property, told Insider that the business promised him service in mid-to-late 2021.

However, Starlink has pushed its timetable back to January 2022, he added. Nowlin made a second purchase for Starlink on a different site in May, although he informed Insider that it had been delayed until mid-to-late 2022. Both of these places are in remote areas, and internet connectivity is a necessity. Several customers are furious because this service was sold on a “first-come, first-serve basis. ” One Reddit user stated on Wednesday that the firm had misled them. Another Redditor stated that they were considering having their payments reimbursed. SpaceX did not respond quickly to the seeking comment from Insider. They even reported in October that certain preorder customers who had waited up to 9 months for Starlink had canceled their USD 100 deposits, as well as another Insider report in September stated that buyers were becoming more displeased since they couldn’t figure a way to contact or email the firm’s customer support helpline for updates.

SpaceX Launches 53 New Starlink Satellites in First Flight in 2 Months

December 2, 2021 by Samuel Roan

On November 13, SpaceX effectively launched an additional 53 Starlink satellites in its first scheduled flight for the internet network in 2 months. A Falcon 9 rocket delivering the next set of Starlink satellites blasted off from Cape Canaveral in Florida at 7:19 a.m. Eastern time, a day after the launch had been postponed due to inclement weather. As per SpaceX, every one of the satellites was safely launched to Low Earth Orbit (LEO), in which they will join the remainder of the Starlink network. After performing its 9th mission, the Falcon 9’s recoverable first stage also landed on SpaceX’s drone ship. The rocket also launched four more Starlink flights, as well as SpaceX’s Crew Demo-2, ANASIS-11, and CRS-21.

SpaceX’s most recent mission was the 25th Falcon 9 rocket launch in 2021. Numerous flights like these have launched Starlink internet satellites for the constellation’s rapid expansion. So far, SpaceX has deployed over 1,800 Starlink satellites to expand worldwide coverage. On September 13, the final specialized Starlink launch flight lifted out from the Vandenberg Space Force Base in California, delivering 51 satellites to the polar orbit. As per a presentation SpaceX submitted to the Federal Communications Commission on Nov. 10, Starlink is servicing around 140,000 consumers across 20 nations, an increase of approximately 40,000 from what it stated in August.

According to the company, it has received over 750,000 “orders/deposits internationally” for the service. Nevertheless, pandemic-related silicon shortages have slowed manufacturing and hampered its ability to meet orders. Antennas have been a key source of contention for the firm, which extensively subsidizes them to stimulate adoption. On November 10, the FCC authorized a new Starlink antenna that SpaceX claims would be less expensive to manufacture, however, the company continues to charge users USD 499 for the gear required to join Starlink’s services. The new rectangular dish is also slimmer and lightweight than its predecessor, which was round.

For more than a year, Starlink beta testers have been utilizing a 23-inch-wide, 16-pound-round user interface where internet services are accessible. They can now purchase a dish that is 12” broad, 19” long and weighs 16 pounds. The 12-inch wide diameter also corresponds to the diameter of the antennae being developed by Amazon for its projected Project Kuiper constellation. Project Kuiper, on the other hand, is still a long way behind Starlink’s commercial installation. Amazon said on November 1 that it intends to launch 2 Project Kuiper prototype satellites for testing purposes by the Q4 of 2022.

Russia Defends Satellite Breakup Action, Says Debris Field Moved Away From ISS Orbit

November 29, 2021 by Samuel Roan

Russia has defended its anti-satellite test. The country was facing flak for its test. The test created space debris. Russia has now said that its test poses no threat to the International Space Station. It said that the ISS is intact and doing science experiments. According to NASA, the test created debris and therefore increased the risk of hitting ISS and other satellites. Russia had on November 15 launched a direct-ascent anti-satellite. The satellite collided with a defunct satellite in low Earth orbit. The collision generated debris. NASA said that more than 1,500 pieces of orbital debris. Besides, it also generated thousands of small pieces of debris. It is said that the debris can threaten the ISS and other space activities.

The collision forced the ISS control team to wake up the ISS crew soon after the collision. They were notified about the satellite breakup in space. The astronauts aboard the laboratory were asked to take safety measures to protect themselves in any adverse situation. The crew took shelter in Soyuz and Dragon vehicles. The vehicles are currently docked at the ISS. They remained inside the vehicles for around two hours. The rotating laboratory passed through a field of debris that was created by Russia’s satellite breakup. Seven astronauts and cosmonauts are currently present on the ISS. Defending the test, Russia’s Ministry of Defence said that fragments pose no threat to the ISS and other space activities.

Russia said that the debris generated from the collision has moved away from the orbit of the space station. The ISS orbits around the Earth at an altitude of 400 km. According to LeoLabs, the altitude of debris is estimated to be 440 to 520 km. LeoLabs is a space debris tracker agency. NASA condemned Russia’s actions. It described the test as dangerous and irresponsible behavior. Russia is also a partner on the ISS. However, Russia has said that it will exit the program soon. The country has plans to set up a new space station. It will be called Russian Orbital Service Station. The construction is likely to begin in 2025. The country said that the proposed space station will feature next-generation modules.

After Successful IPO, What Does the Future Hold for Nykaa?

November 26, 2021 by Samuel Roan

To say the very least, Nykaa’s (formally, FSN E-Commerce Ventures) share market launch on November 10 exceeded all expectations. On the Bombay Stock Exchange, the corporation’s shares concluded at ₹2,206.70 a share (BSE). This marks a 96% gain over the initial offering price of ₹1125 per unit. On November 10, Nykaa’s market valuation increased to ₹1,04,438.88 crore, putting it far ahead of several consumer businesses such as Marico as well as Berger Paints India. Of course, these businesses aren’t quite alike. Nykaa is an online store that is profitable but at a far lower rate than several other consumer enterprises.

According to Karan Taurani, an expert at Elara Securities (India), “businesses like Nykaa are in the aggregating game, while consumer corporations market their brands.” Nykaa, on the other hand, is a one-stop store for numerous companies, and its scalability is enormous.” Many analysts believe that the potential for the development of internet/digital enterprises is vast. “It is worth emphasizing that various consumer-related enterprises are not likely to expand at 40-50% every year and they are largely offline plays,” stated Nitin Rao, creator of Alpha Ideas. in, an investment blog. Nykaa’s estimated potential rate of growth is substantially higher in contrast, and it is a digital bet.”

The COVID-19 pandemic has expedited the implementation of electronic portals, and firms like Nykaa stand to prosper as a result. Nykaa is an Indian multi-brand Beauty & Personal Care (BPC) portal with a strong presence in this market. It entered the fashion market in 2018 as Nykaa Fashion. “Furthermore, the Chinese government’s digital repression will push foreign investors to explore alternative possibilities, and as a result, they may find the Indian market appealing,” Rao remarked. It also helps because Nykaa is profitable, as opposed to other internet companies such as Zomato (an online food delivery service) or One97 Communications (Paytm).

Nykaa’s net income in FY21 was ₹62 crore, with an Earnings Before Interest, Taxes, Depreciation, and Amortization (EBITDA) margin of 6.6%. Thankfully for shareholders, the forecast for margins is positive. “We estimate Nykaa can maintain a CAGR of roughly 35% in sales and 50% in EBITDA over the next several years with double-digit margins,” Prabhudas Lilladher Pvt. Ltd. analysts stated in research on October 26.  For context, Nykaa’s earnings climbed at a CAGR of 48% between FY19 and FY21. During the same timeframe, the Gross Merchandise Value (GMV) CAGR was around 57%. While these indicators are promising, it comes without mentioning that Nykaa’s values are exorbitant.

Elara’s anticipated target value for Nykaa’s stock 5 years from now, depending on FY27 revenue estimates, is ₹1880 per share. Nykaa’s stock price has now crossed this level. Considering Elara’s expected revenues for FY27, the stock now trades at a market valuation to revenue ratio of around 8X. “Shareholders would have to monitor the implementation in the clothing category, the success of which would be essential for values ahead,” Taurani says. Investors must also keep a careful watch on the rate of expansion. On Thursday, when the wider markets were down, Nykaa’s shares slid around 1% to ₹2187 per unit on the BSE at 12.51 p.m.

Health experts have said that another 28 million people have become eligible to receive the COVID19 vaccine in the United States as the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has formally recommended the Pfizer COVID19 shot for children who are in the age group of 5 to 11 years. The chief of the CDC, Dr. Rochelle Walensky has said that the agency has taken a crucial step to fight against the SARS-CoV-2 virus in the country. As parents of millions of children wait to get their kids vaccinated, the federal agency has given a go-ahead to the Pfizer vaccine to be used in 28 million children who are 5 to 11 years old. Experts have said that a panel of independent experts that advises the CDC has voted unanimously to propose Pfizer COVID19 shot for children. Experts have said that the vaccine can be given to children immediately but it will not kick start in full force until November 8, 2021. Now, the White House officials will officially announce that Pfizer’s pediatric shot will be widely available in the US. Over the next week, nearly 15 million doses of the Pfizer pediatric shot will be dispatched. Nearly 10 million of these doses will be given to pediatricians’ offices. Around 5 million doses will be given to pharmacies. President Joe Biden has said that it is a major step forward in the fight against the deadly virus for the United States. Many parents are concerned about the safety of their children since the delta variant has started spreading across the US leading to a higher number of cases, hospital admissions, and deaths in kids.

Experts have claimed that Pfizer’s pediatric shot for kids aged 5 to 11 years has been proved to be nearly 91 percent efficient in preventing symptomatic infection. Children will be immunized with a smaller one-third dose of the shot. Pfizer has revealed that none of the children who have been enrolled in the clinical trials of the pediatric shot have developed an uncommon heart inflammation side effect that is known as myocarditis. A small number of adults have been dealing with myocarditis after vaccination with mRNA vaccines. Most young men have been found with this rare side effect. A myocarditis expert from the CDC, Dr. Matt Oster has claimed that the benefits of Pfizer’s pediatric shot prevail over the possible risk of myocarditis linked to mRNA shots. He has been a part of the expert panel of the CDC and has said that contracting COVID19 is harmful to the heart as compared to getting the shots. Dr. Sarah Oliver from the CDC has said that for each million pediatric inoculation, nearly 18500 infections, and 80 hospital admissions can be averted. She has come up with this estimation with the help of a model on COVID19 infections throughout the pandemic so far. As per the model, if COVID19 cases reach to its peak again due to the delta strain, nearly 58200 cases, and 220 hospital admissions can be averted with each million pediatric immunization. Pediatric vaccination can further prevent the spread of the virus and instill confidence into a safer return to in-person learning in schools. One of the members of the CDC’s expert panel, Dr. Sarah Long has said that the data of clinical trials show that it is an effective vaccine that can save lives of kids and officials should make it widely available to reduce the public health burden. The sanction process of the Pfizer shot has started last week when a committee of experts from the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has voted almost collectively to give approval to Pfizer’s pediatric shot. The committee of experts has assessed all the efficiency and safety data of the shot before giving it a go-ahead. The acting commissioner of the FDA, Janet Woodcock has given a green signal to the vaccine last week, and then the process has moved to the CDC for final decision before the shot can be rolled out in the country.

However, it is still uncertain whether parents are going to accept the shot for their kids. A survey from the Kaiser Family Foundation has found that a third of parents have given their nod to get their kids aged 5 to 11 years vaccinated right away while another one-third of parents have said that they want to wait and watch how the vaccine performs. However, the findings of the survey have shown a slight increase in vaccine reception among parents who have elementary school-going children. Dr, Janet Woodcock has said that she hopes that parents will focus on the benefits of Pfizer’s pediatric shot. She has said that as more people will witness children getting immunized and protected from the virus and being able to take part in activities without fear of the virus, they will also push for their children’s vaccination. Dr. Woodcock has said that Pfizer’s pediatric shot can prevent the medical issues that come along with COVID19 infection. She has said that no parent should take the risk as COVID19 infection can lead to long COVID, multisystem inflammatory syndrome (MIS), or hospitalization due to the severe disease. Experts who have been a part of the approval process have said that the risk of not getting the shot far outweighs the risk of mild vaccine side effects that have been observed in some adults earlier.

Spotify Adds More Paid And Monthly Active Subscribers, Revenues Up Too

October 31, 2021 by Samuel Roan

Spotify has been continuously registering an increase in the number of paid subscribers. The music streaming company now has 172 million paid subscribers. This is up by around 19 percent when compared to the same period last year. Also, the number of paid subscribers has seen an increase of 4 percent when compared to the previous quarter. In the last quarter, the number of paid subscribers was 165 million. The streaming platform has also seen an upward trend in terms of monthly active users. The number of active users in this quarter is 381, which is up from 365 million active subscribers in the last quarter. These figures are in line with what the company we’re expecting in the third quarter.

The growth shows that Spotify continues to be the biggest music streaming platform in the world. Although its competitors Apple Music and Amazon Music are not very regular when it comes to releasing the number of subscribers, data collected by Music Ally has put their subscriber counts at 55 million and 60 million respectively. This is not even half of the number of subscribers Spotify has. Moreover, the company has announced that it is expecting to cross the 400 million monthly active users mark by the end of this year. Also, the company is hopeful of having 177 million premium subscribers at the end of the above-mentioned period.

The other notable thing is that the average revenue per user has increased to USD 5.03 from USD 4.98 in the last quarter. This is equal to a 4 percent year-over-year increase. The average revenue per user has increased as a result of price increases from the company. Overall, Spotify has registered a profit of USD 2.23 million in this quarter. Whereas in the same quarter last year, it had registered a loss of USD 117.3 million. Podcast advertising revenue has also contributed to revenue growth. This has increased to 13 percent from 10 percent of total revenue. The company too has said that it has seen an increase in the number of users engaging with podcasts. The amount of podcasts on Spotify has increased to 3.2 million from 2.9 million. Spotify claims that it is now the number one platform for podcasts in the United States.

Verizon Announces Collaboration With Amazon’s satellite Venture Kuiper To Expand Its 5G Coverage

October 30, 2021 by Samuel Roan

US operator Verizon has entered into a partnership with Kuiper, an ambitious satellite venture of Amazon, to expand its 5G coverage in remote areas of the globe. Kuiper is a low earth orbit satellite of Amazon which has been designed to Starlink of Elon Musk and UK-based OneWeb. They will be competing in the next-generation satellite connectivity market. These satellites have better connectivity when compared to the geostationary equivalent as they are closer to the earth. The other advantage of the LEO satellite is that it has lower latency. As part of this partnership, Kuiper would provide connectivity to future Verizon cell towers.

It needs to be stressed that these LEP satellites cannot be connected directly to devices, just like Lynk. Kuiper would launch a constellation of over 3,000 satellites. These satellites would be in low Earth orbit and provide broadband internet coverage. The plan is to provide internet facilities in remote and rural areas. Amazon has plans to invest more than USD 10 billion in this initiative. But it is important to mention that Amazon has yet not launched its first Kuiper satellites. However, the company has got authorization from the Federal Communications Commission last year. Amazon will be required to deploy half of its satellite in the next six years. Kuiper claimed during prototype testing that it can produce uninterrupted speeds of up to 400Mbps.

This is a great deal for Verizon as they would not require too costly infrastructure for this. It is because of this reason that Verizon cannot provide connectivity in rural and hard-to-reach areas in an easier way. This would be possible because Verizon would not be required to lay fiber cables. The process is not only difficult but also expensive. With the help of Kuiper, Verizon would be able to expand 4G and 5G networks without much effort. Both the company has refused to comment on the financial details of this partnership. Teams of both Verizon and Amazon have started to define technical requirements.

Surgeons From NYU Langone Health Successfully Transplant A Pig Kidney Into A Human Body For The First Time

October 28, 2021 by Samuel Roan

A team of scientists from NYU Langone Health has effectively transplanted a working pig kidney into a human body and has found that it has been working normally. Health experts have said that it is a small step in the decades-long pursuit that someday animal organs can be used to save the lives of patients who have been waiting for organ donors for transplants. Pigs have been the prime focus of recent studies where scientists have tried to address the issue of organ shortage. However, they have been a number of hurdles in using pigs’ organs for transplants. Health experts have said that a type of sugar found in pig cells that is a foreign element to the human body can lead to immediate organ rejection. That is the reason; the head of the NYU Langone Transplant Institute, Dr. Robert Montgomery, and his surgical team has conducted the transplant with a genetically modified pig kidney. Dr. Robert Montgomery has said that genetic modification of the animal kidney is needed to eradicate the sugar found in pig cells and to prevent an immune system attack. The team of surgeons has attached the pig kidney to a pair of large blood vessels in the leg of the dead patient whose body has been kept on a ventilator. Scientists have done so that they can observe their experimental transplant for two days. The team of surgeons has found that the pig kidney has been working fine and has effectively filtered waste and produced urine. Health experts have said that the success of this experiment has paved the way for doctors to use pigs to help bridge the gap in the accessibility of healthy organs for patients who are in need of life-saving transplants. Scientists have said that the experiment has been successful, as the body has not rejected the organ.

The lead scientist Dr. Robert Montgomery has said that the pig kidney has exhibited absolutely normal function and the body has not immediately rejected the organ, which they have been worried about. The experiment has been done last month and led by Dr. Robert Montgomery. Dr. Andrew Adams from the University of Minnesota Medical School, who has not been involved in the study, has said that the findings of the experiment are quite encouraging. He has said that the research reassured patients, scientists, and regulatory authorities that they are moving forward in the right direction. As per the current data, nearly half of all patients who are in need of transplants and waiting for donors turn too sick or lose their lives before an organ donor is available. Dr. Robert Montgomery has claimed that the demand for transplants will always go beyond the supply of healthy human organs. He has said that if human organs are considered the fossil fuel of the organ supply, pig organs are like wind and solar energy, sustainable and infinite. Health experts have said that the vision for an animal-to-human transplant that is also known as xenotransplantation has been conceived in the 17th century as scientists have attempted to use animal blood for transfusions. In the 20th century, scientists have tried their hands on transplants of organs from baboons into humans particularly for baby Fae, a dying infant who has been able to live for 21 days with a baboon heart. As these attempts have garnered no major success and public interest, scientists have turned their focus from primates to pigs. Experts have said that pigs have some more advantages as compared to monkeys and apes. Pigs are produced for food, therefore there are no ethical concerns regarding using them to increase organ supply. Pigs are found with large litters, short gestation periods, and they have organs comparable to humans.

Scientists have successfully used pig heart valves in humans for decades. Health experts have informed that the blood thinner heparin is extracted from pig intestines. Experts have used skin grafts of pigs on burns and Chinese experts have been able to restore sight with the help of pig corneas. In the past, many experiments on cross-species surgery have resulted in organ rejection as human antibodies have attacked an alien organ. Experts have removed the sugar molecule known as Alpha-gal that is found in pig cells with the help of genetic editing. Many biotech firms as well are trying to develop appropriate pig organs for transplant that can help reduce the shortage of human organs. The officials from the US government have said that there are more than 90000 people who are on the waiting list for a kidney transplant. Around 12 of them lose their lives each day while waiting for suitable donors. The findings of the new study are a triumph for Revivicor, which is a subsidiary of a firm known as United Therapeutics that has modified and raised a herd of 100 pigs in extremely controlled conditions at a facility in Iowa.

The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has authorized gene alteration in pigs from Revivicor and has said that it is safe for human food consumption and medicine. However, the officials of the FDA have said that the company requires to present more paperwork before transplants of pig organs into living humans. The chief of United Therapeutics, Martine Rothblatt has said that this is a crucial way forward in acknowledging the potential of xenotransplantation that can save thousands of lives in the future. A researcher from the Hastings Center, Karen Maschke has said that raising pigs to be organ donors might sound unethical to some people, but it will be more acceptable if issues about animal welfare are addressed properly. Karen Maschke is going to draft ethics and policy proposals for the first clinical experiments that will be funded by the National Institutes of Health. Other health experts have said that tests on non-human primates and the findings of this test on a human body have shown a way forward for the first tentative pig kidney or heart transplants into living human beings.

A Team Of Scientists Claims Some People Might Be Resistant To COVID19 Infection Due To Their Genetics

October 25, 2021 by Samuel Roan

For many decades, scientists have been saying that humans are almost 99.9 percent identical to each other and it is just that 0.1 percent that makes the difference. They have said that only a 0.1 percent difference is responsible for people’s unique looks and the difference in their susceptibility or resistance to diseases. As per the experts, gathering more information about these special genes can help develop new drugs and treatments. A team of experts from the Academy of Athens has been searching for people across the world who might be resistant to the SARS-CoV-2 virus. Experts have said that some people’s genes might hold the keys for better treatment of COVID19. The lead researcher of the study Evangelos Andreakos has said that the start of the SARS-CoV-2 virus on a global scale has offered yet another description of scientific diversity in people during the course of infection that ranges from asymptomatic infections to fatal infection. He has said that the understanding of the pathophysiology of life-altering COVID19 infection has grown further since the first case has come to light in December 2019. But, experts still do not know much about the human genetics and immunological source of innate resistance to the virus. The lead author has said that although scientists have not been able to find much detail about inborn resistance, however, that does not imply that it does not exist.

The authors of the study have said that they have seen that at times, the whole family tests positive for COVID19 but a member of the family turns negative for the virus. They have said that there have been multiple reports of people who have somehow have been able to avoid the virus despite being exposed to the virus multiple times. Experts who have been involved in the new study have done another study last year that has shown that people who have blood type O have appeared to be slightly resistant to the SARS-CoV-2 virus and severe disease. There have been other studies that have analyzed proteins such as the ACE2 receptor or TMEM41B that the virus needs either to enter human cells or replicate itself inside the human cell. The authors of the study have proposed a strategy to identify, engage, and genetically test those individuals who might be naturally defiant to the virus. They have said that experts need to ponder on uninfected household contacts of people who have been diagnosed with symptomatic infection. Then the focus will shift to those people who have been exposed to an index case without wearing PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) for at least one hour per day within the first 3 to 5 days of disease symptoms emerging. Four weeks after the exposure, these people need to be screened for negative PCR tests and negative blood work. This screening needs to be done to analyze T cells to verify that these people have not been infected with the virus in the past.

The authors of the study have said that they have already enrolled nearly 400 participants who have met their criteria for being enrolled in a resistance study cohort. They have said that they are still looking for more participants. People from across the world can enroll in the study after meeting the criteria for the study. Health experts who have been involved in the study have said that antiviral treatments, COVID19 shots, and a better understanding of the pathogen, life has returned to normal in some parts of the world, however, the SARS-CoV-2 virus is going to remain with people for a long time. The lead author of the study, Evangelos Andreakos has said that finding those people who are blessed with some genetic benefits to be spared by the virus can be a boon for many people across the world, who are more vulnerable to the virus. It will be helpful as new variants of the virus might emerge as the virus continues to affect more people and spread across communities. The perspective of the authors has been released in a journal known as Nature Immunology. Many people across the world have already received an online link to participate in the study; however, first, they will need to fulfill the criteria proposed by the health experts.

The UAE Intends to Conduct Ambitious Asteroid Belt Expedition by 2028

October 22, 2021 by Samuel Roan

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) revealed intentions to conduct an ambitious expedition to an asteroid belt by 2028 today (Oct. 5). It will be the UAE’s second interplanetary mission; the first, the Emirates Mars Mission, sent an orbiter named “Hope” to Mars in July 2020. Hope is still actively functional, and the upcoming asteroid expedition will build on its accomplishments, according to UAE authorities.

“Our aim is clear: to stimulate the growth of creativity and knowledge-based companies in the Emirates,” said the chair of the UAE Space Agency, Sarah Al Amiri, in an email today. “This cannot be accomplished by remaining stagnant; it takes leaps in vision, belief, and the pursuing of missions,” Al Amiri stated. “We began on the Emirates Mars Mission (EMM), a 6-year endeavor that was 5 times more sophisticated and difficult than the Earth-observation satellites we were constructing.”

If all goes as planned, the asteroid expedition, the name of which has yet to be disclosed, would launch at a later date. It will travel past Earth and Venus in 2029 and 2028, respectively, before reaching the asteroid belt between Jupiter and Mars in 2030. Throughout the course of its journey, the probe will investigate seven distinct asteroids up close, culminating in a landing on an asteroid in 2033. The UAE will collaborate on the asteroid expedition with Boulder’s Laboratory for Atmospheric and Space Physics at the University of Colorado, which is also a major collaborator on the Hope Mars mission. According to UAE authorities, the research aims of the asteroid expedition, as well as the equipment it will carry, will be disclosed in mid-2022.

The asteroid mission is a component of the UAE’s deliberate venture into space, which includes the anticipated delivery of the Rashid moon rover to the surface of the moon in 2022. The country believes that such initiatives would assist to develop a technological interest among its citizens as well as improve and diversify its economy, which has traditionally been largely reliant on oil exports. “Today, we are engaged in future generations,” stated Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, vice president & prime minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, one of the nation’s 7 emirates, in the same announcement. “With each new step forward in space, we generate chances for young individuals on Earth.”

A Large-Scale Study Shows An Intranasal Form Of Oxytocin Hormone Might Not Be Effective In Treating Autism

October 20, 2021 by Samuel Roan

Heath experts who have come out with a new large-scale study have said that an intranasal form of oxytocin hormone might not be more effective than a placebo. The study has found that the intranasal form of oxytocin might not be potent enough to promote social behaviors among children who are dealing with autism. Many scientists have been considering oxytocin as a candidate for treating autism due to its role in promoting social bonds for more than 10 years. Some small trials have shown that oxytocin might be effective in improving social skills in some autistic people who are identified with low levels of oxytocin and infants who are suffering from Prader-Willi syndrome. Experts have said that Prader-Willi syndrome is a condition linked to autism. However, the findings of the study have shown that oxytocin especially in its existing form might not be helpful for most children who are dealing with autism. A lecturer of pediatrics from the University of Toronto in Canada, Evdokia Anagnostou as well has supported the findings of the study. The expert has not been involved in the study. Scientists have said that the study might be the largest clinical trial that has been done on oxytocin treatment for autism to date. The lead author of the study, Dr. Linmarie Sikich has said that though findings have nullified the effectiveness of oxytocin, some people might still feel that the treatment might be helpful for many people who are dealing with autism. The findings of the study have been released in a journal known as the New England Journal of Medicine. A senior scientist of biological psychiatry from the University of Oslo in Norway, Daniel Quintana has said that such types of studies are vulnerable to publication bias, in which non-significant findings have fewer odds of being published as compared to significant results. Therefore, the new study appears to be a crucial contribution to the field. However, the findings of the study do not suggest putting the idea of using intranasal oxytocin as autism treatment to rest. Daniel Quintana has not been involved in the study.

The authors of the study have enrolled nearly 250 autistic children who have been in the age range of 3 to 17 years. Some have the participants have been given intranasal oxytocin spray and some of them have been kept on placebo for 24 weeks. Initially, children have been given a low dose of oxytocin administered once each day. Experts have said that if children have been able to tolerate the low dose, they have slowly switched to a higher dose two times a day. Thereafter, parents of these children have reported the social behaviors of their children via a series of questionnaires at standard intervals. As per an adapted part of the Aberrant Behavior Checklist, participants of both groups have shown some progress in their social behaviors. The aberrant Behavior Checklist has been a key measuring tool of the trial for outcomes. These improvements have lasted for the rest of the trial. The Pervasive Development Disorders Behavior Inventory and the Social Responsive Scale have measured that there has been improvement in sociability and motivation as well in both groups. The authors of the study have said that the findings of the study have been unchanged by the age of participants, their verbal abilities, and the levels of oxytocin in their bloodstream. The lead author Evdokia Anagnostou has said that treating the disease with just oxytocin might not be enough. However, she has said that there is a possibility that the drug might improve other facets of social functions such as affiliation, cognition, reward, and association. These aspects might not be highlighted by the questionnaires that have been used in the trial.

Last month, a small study on intranasal oxytocin in children who have been dealing with Phelan-McDermid syndrome has shown no impact of the drug on social traits that have been reported by parents. The Phelan-McDermid syndrome is a neurological issue that can lead to autism. Experts have said that the field is struggling with the issue of measuring the social behavior of autistic children and it is still not resolved. The head of the Translational Center for Neuroscience at Emory University in Atlanta Georgia, Larry Young has said that the study has found more about how oxytocin affects the brain. He has said that the idea about how the hormone impacts the social behaviors of children has shifted with the new findings. He has said that the hormone does not improve sociability among such children in general. However, it shoots up the salience of stimuli that helps patients to learn and perceive things from facial expressions and body actions in a better way. Larry Young has said that combining the hormone treatment with other kinds of behavior training might be more effective. The lead author has claimed that due to the heterogeneity of the disease, some people with autism might get some benefits from oxytocin. It is possible that children enrolled in the trial might be suffering from different forms of autism that might have affected the findings. She has said that there is a need for further research to find out whether giving oxytocin intranasally is the most effective way to send the drug into the brain. It is uncertain how the brain takes up the hormone when it is delivered intranasally. Anagnostou has said that it will be more effective to use a compound of the hormone that can trigger oxytocin receptors or a paralleled system in the brain rather than flossing the brain with oxytocin. She has claimed that experts need to know whether oxytocin is the only way to control the brain or they can use some other strategies as well.

Study Finds Martian Landscape Shaped By Flooded Crater Lakes, Overflowing Was More Common Than Previously Thought

October 9, 2021 by Samuel Roan

A new study has said that massive floods on Mars played a crucial role in shaping the landscape. Past studies have said that water was in the liquid state on Mars before the planet dried up. The planet hosted lakes similar to Earth’s. The University of Texas researchers said that water overflowed crater lakes on Mars. This overflowing of water designed the landscape the way it appears today. Water carved deep chasms on the surface. This landscape-changing activity happened persistently on the Red Planet for a long time. Overflowing of water even eroded sediment in Lake Superior and Lake Ontario.

Researchers said that such flooding was more common on Red Planet than previously assumed. It has even more craters than Earth. It means that the Red Planet was very wet and crater lakes were very common. Researchers said that the Martian lakes breached the crater walls due to the overflowing of water. This caused floods on the surface. The surrounding landscapes were flooded. The study included more than 260 craters lakes that breached their wall. Researchers then linked the data of valleys connected to a crater breach. They found that valleys were formed away from craters while craters took shape when lakes were flooded. Researchers said that the findings give hope to human efforts to find a source of water on Mars.

Water is an essential element for life to habitat. The findings are also an indication that the Red Planet hosted life. Scientists are already searching for possible signs of microbial life on the planet. Mars today has no water in the liquid form on its surface. Studies of Martian meteorites almost four decades ago established that Earth’s neighbor was once water-rich. But the planet was dried up due to continuous climate change. The Martian atmosphere is very thin today and most composed of CO2. NASA’s missions have sent several photos of Martian landscapes. These images have been marked by river valleys and flood channels.
